IMP Attack In Halo

A large Imperial-Bloc operation has taken place in the Hittite system against RCF and COH facilities.

A very large number of IMP/GTT ships have entered and closed down the Hittite system in the Halo periphery.

First target to be hit was the COH base which has taken several days of fire. Some RCF ships were ordered to help support the base but found that the quads have been filled with IMP/GTT warships.

Some fighting saw 7 RCF ships destroyed (5 warships) and a number take damage.

Well over 50 IMP and GTT warships have been detected involved in the operation, though estimates put the real number at around at least 80. With possibly even more vessels involved in the locking down of the system, as rumours continue to circulate that the IMP-Bloc have flooded the Halo Periphery with warships being spotted everywhere.

The Trial Of Baron LiQuan

Broadcast courtesy of the Dewiek.

The third great tide since the rise of the Wolf Mother brought a council concerned with just one topic: Baron Aldahan LiQuan.

News of his oath-breaking and provocations against the Nation's allies had travelled all the way to the Elders. The howling of their deliberations travelled across the dark night of Newstart into the earshot of the Wolf Packs assembled at the Lair. The chorus of their howling in excited anticipation rose as the Council proceeded.

MaiChiKwai: "Oath-breaker. Slaver. Warmonger. A worthy candidate for justice!"
Silvermane: "A foolish human. Breaking away from the safety of the pack."
Greymane: "What of his Confederate brethren? Will they not stand with this creature?"
MaiChiKwai: "Bah. They are nothing without the Detinus and will the Detinus go to war to protect a slaver?"
Lucian: "Our quarrel is not with the Confederates as a whole. The Detinus have tamed their evil habits."
Soranus Lupin: "A trial under Dewiek laws and by Dewiek traditions!"
MaiChiKwai: "The Confederacy lay claim to our hunting grounds. They lack respect for the order of things."
Silvermane: "And what of our allies? Will they stand by?"
MaiChiKwai: "They are bound by human laws."
Silvermane: "The Falconians?"
MaiChiKwai: "They are worthy hunters and have no love for this LiQuan. But they are hindered by circumstance."
Greymane: "Where exactly would the creature be tried? His lair is beyond our reach."
MaiChiKwai: "The creature pays lip service to honour. We shall force him to stand by his name."
Soranus Lupin: "Our hunting grounds are haunted by his kin. We shall draw him there."
Silvermane: "A trial by combat. By the ancient laws. Yes, blood justice."
MaiChiKwai: "Yes! The old traditions will be taught to these young species."
Greymane: "Justice will be a tide across the galaxy again."

The Elders continued in their excited bravado and the blood ran hot in their veins for some time. The growling of the packs in the starport grew in intensity.

It was so that Darkmane had to bring order to the debate, "These are worthy ideas, my brothers. But this decision belongs to the Mother herself! Mistress, what say you?"

The Wolf Mother remained silent, staring into the void of the night sky. Her thoughts swam with visions of the Makers and the alignment of their Gifts. Was this the time of the great hunt?

The Nation was hungry. And the Elders were bored. She could feel their blood pulse through her mind. Their anguish at the injustice. Their lust for combat. The tide would carry them with or without her. She would have to guide their anger. She will forge it into a weapon.

The silence fell on her like a spotlight and she said simply, "Send the terms to the Baron. If he has honour he will meet us in the field of war and settle matters like an elder."

Darkmane needed no further encouragement. He howled into the night, "Raise the packs, raise the bloodspawn, rally the troops, be ready for treachery, be ready for justice!"

FLZ News

From the Flagritz Tentacled News Roundup:

Following the successful raid on the Felini base TEL DAKTARI Imperial forces have carried out a follow up strike against the Consortium relief force in orbit of the planet Mei Mei Mei. The transport ship FEL Little Claws II (H) was boarded by Imperial troops and safely removed from orbit despite protective fire from the base.

Krell

Disturbing reports are circulating that the Krell have all gone on holiday, en masse, to an as yet undisclosed holiday destination.

Sales of riot gear are going through the roof at all major resort gift shops.

Pirate

A pirate scout has been destroyed in the Audrey system by Confederate forces.

Foothold

The FLZ siege of FEL Foothold continues for another week, as more FLZ warships join the blockade and bombardment.

Although reports are reaching our newsroom that the FEL defenders have dramatically lowered their Starbase shields in order to return fire with approximately 3000 ground based missile launchers.

The surprise counter-attack seems to have destroyed 3 FLZ 200 hull battleships, though reports from the ground are unclear as to how much additional damage the Starbase might have suffered through dropping their defensive protection.

RCF Ground Force Stomped

From the GTT News wire.

GTT Lewis Downtime R1 was attacked by an RCF ground party consisting of 6 Kastorian Crew and 76 Kastorian Mercenaries. But the rebels found themselves on the wrong end of the tiger and were completely wiped out by 50 Aquaphid Marines. Only 11 of the mercs managed to survive the first round of combat. GTT forces have said their only injury was Private Bkkmar who stubbed his toe during the celebration after the battle.

Halo

As if the IMP weren't having a hard enough time in Halo, it seems as if they have begun to be targeted by IND ground parties as well.

Puny HLQ

The House LiQuan have been declared 'Puny' by the Dewiek Ranking System, which is a significant step up from their previous ranking of 'Mostly Puny.'

Dewiek

Tensions are rising between the DEN and FET. Though arguably tensions are rising between the DEN and everybody.

Except for the MOH of course.

Which, speaking of…

Dewiek

DEN forces have attacked and captured the SMS outpost Avoir-Zerith over a dispute regarding unpaid rent.

The SMS response is as of yet unknown, though it seems the Dewiek may have returned the outpost having seized goods of value.

Foothold

Having dropped Starbase shields last week, the FEL Starbase of Foothold has successfully seen off the besieging Flagritz forces.

Young Male Dewiek Voice: Right, yes. Hello! I'm Professsor Goldwolf. I'm sorry but... the Wolf Mother and the Elder Council are... otherwise indisposed.
<Roar of howling in background>
Prof. Goldwolf: Yes... I'm afraid your message... Well...you see... your message... it seems to have sent the Elders into a bit of a... well, hysterical fits is the only way I can describe it. Sorry about that...
Young Female Dewiek Voice: Oh, by the Makers. Let me talk to them!
Prof. Goldwolf: Err... yes... I will pass you over to my colleague Profession Claws.
Prof. Claws: Hello there! Is it true? You're really a human*? You know I've never actually met a human*. I would love to get you in a lab! And do some experiments.
Prof. Goldwolf: This is not the time Sandy!
Prof. Claws: Alright, copperface. How often do we get an opportunity to speak to an actual human*? Fine, fine. Yes, well as the moody metallurgist was saying. I'm afraid the Elders didn't take your message very well. And by well, I mean, they haven't been able to stop laughing. They did give us a message to read for you. We've done our best to translate it but Goldwolf here is the only one of the cubs around here who can use this crusty looking subspace transmitter the Great Mother uses. What on account of him being a runt, oww, I mean a very smart runt and getting fitted with those prototype cybernetics. Anyway, so yeah... I'm going to hand you over to him.
Prof. Goldwolf: The Wolf Mother...
Prof. Claws: No, no! Press the red button first!
Prof. Goldwolf: Oh right, yes. Stop jabbing me. I'm pressing it, I'm pressing it...

If you have declared war on and or been so bold as to have attacked the Nation, please enjoy this time. The Elders love to give our prey a sporting chance.

Tentative Steps

Building your own starship has never been easier!

Today we added a thousand Light Hulls and four Barge blueprints to the Tentative Steps market. Not only that, but the article Building Your Own Barge in Nine Easy Steps describes how you can ... well, you probably get the idea.

The bottom line being: there is no longer any excuse for you not to be building your own barges!

All you really need is a Command complex, one to four Shipyard complexes, 20-50 employees, 1 Barge blueprint and 50 Light Hulls and you're off!

So what are you waiting for? Oh, right, the business case. Well, that seems reasonable, so here is the business case:

If you buy a barge on the open market for such things you can expect to pay in the region $20k-$25k for it. If you build one only from components you have purchased at Tentative Steps, however, in the most efficient manner that we describe, then the same barge costs you $15k. That is a $5k to $10k savings per ship, meaning that it takes you anywhere from 13 to 26 weeks to make up for the cost of the Barge blueprint and other sundries and after that you're laughing all the way to the EEM branch office! And if you have your own manufacturing operation so that you can build your own hulls and components rather than buy them from us, you are saving even more!

Why are you still reading this? You should be at Tentative Steps already tearing hulls and blueprints off the shelves!

Starbase name Change

*** WE ARE THE VOICE OF THE PACK ***

The Wolf Mother notifies any interested parties the above starbase is now part of the Elder Nation and no longer the Falconian Republic. She has decreed its name be changed to Manticore.

The market here will be closed forthwith. Any parties with outstanding business should contact the Elders.

Shocking Revelations

SSS/IGN reporters were invited by the DEN to observe the recent duel between the Baron LiQuan and Silvermane of the Dewiek Elder Nation that was held at the Mohache outpost of Pigsty, in the Yank system. They have filed the following report:

***

>TU 300: Special Action {...} {...}

Silvermane as champion representing the Nation engages the Baron LiQuan in mortal combat in these lovely and apt surroundings. The GP Judicial Monitors (18624) of Elders who should have also arrived at the outpost will observe with impartiality (and on the off-chance of a snack). The duel will be unarmed, to the death and in a limited circle area ringed by the monitors.

Silvermane will approach the fight cautiously knowing he's dealing with a tricky human. Try to take out the Baron's eyes first. Scoop out his kidneys with the claws if he comes close enough for a reach around. Keep defences up and be mindful of his feet, his fists and skull as possible weapons.
Watch out for classic human treachery like sand in the eyes, hidden weapons or you know orbital bombardment.

Result:
Special Action/Dual Between DEN Silvermane and HLQ Baron LiQuan/210.33
After a night of fasting - always good to enter combat lean and hungry, Silvermane steps into the newly cleared arena.

A change in the wind brings the smell of the human to Silvermane's nostrils.
The Baron has recently eaten that much is clear, but something else, something that tugs at the back of his mind, something primeval and wrong.
The Baron is looking cocky - well he will soon have a smile, from ear to ear. Silvermane can almost taste the Baron's blood.

But no fear - either he is stupid...

Stripped to the waist, the baron steps up - he is looking a lot leaner than his recent holo-images.

Wasting no time Silvermane leaps for the disabling gouge for the eyes The Judges are still looking where he was when he makes contact with the Baron, but the Baron has slipped sideways and it is a glancing blow.

Blood is on Silvermane's claws as they circle and no longer looking quite so sure. Silvermane raises the bloody claw to his tongue to taste and mock.
The taste screams wrongness and he can almost hear the howl of his
ancestors warning of ancient enemies. His focus returns too late as his ribcage collapses inwards.

As he sinks to the ground already dead, his last telepathic scream to his crew - Beware, Meklan!

***

The events surrounding the duel then broke up in confusion as security forces attempted to lock down the event. Our reporter thinks he saw the Baron LiQuan laughing as he was escorted to safety by his own security forces, while the body of Elder Silvermane continued to disintegrate as Meklan Nanites dissolved his soft tissues, replacing them with partially reconstructed bio-mechanical debris.

Panic then broke out throughout the settlement as fears spread of an imminent Meklan attack, and our reporter was ushered from the scene as Dewiek and Mohache officials in Hazmat suits started to arrive to quarantine the area.

He was however able to catch a few brief words with one of the Dewiek officials, and asked for more details on what exactly happened:

"Meklanisation not only adds machinery to the body but injects a whole bunch of nanites which controls the various metallic additions and take over the neural network of the host. The nanites are ancient and programmed by their creators in a way that gives Meklan their unique traits. Alone or in small numbers they're much like cyborgs. But put a lot of them together and they don't obey their "owners" but their true masters. The ingestion of these nanites is invariably fatal. Or at least, the lucky ones die"

Finally, as our reporter was departing, we saw combat shock troops arrive, armed with flame throwers.

The SSS would like to extend our thanks to the DEN for allowing our reporters unfettered access.

Shocking Revelations Part 2

The DEN have issued a press release regarding recent events:

*** WE ARE THE VOICE OF THE PACK ***

The Wolf Mother calls all sentients to listen to her words. She speaks for the Nation and on a matter of grave importance.

When the Wolf Mother rose to lead the Nation she sensed an evil pestilence of a rotten peace spreading, weakening our allies and the lives of all sentients within the Peripheries.

The Wolf Mother asked the augers of the Elders to guide her efforts and one name came forth over and over again: The Baron Aldahan LiQuan. If there is a source for the pestilence, the great corruption that has spread across the galaxy, whilst many share the blame, its focus seems to be this one man, so close to the human Emperor's ear.

Today, the Nation has confirmed what it has suspected for months and the nature of the corruption is revealed at a heavy price. The Elders mourn the loss of the Elder Silvermane, who died too soon and in such a treacherous manner, but he died an Elder, a Dewiek and a favoured son.

The Wolf Mother speaks plainly for the simple minded:

The Baron Aldahan LiQuan is a meklan.

A foul creature, an agent of darker powers, manifest in forbidden technology and vile intentions. The evidence has been provided to our allies and the SSS.

This creature must be destroyed. His labs and the means of his corruption must be ceased. His whole House must be purged of this taint for there can be no doubt it is a Meklan Hive Mind.

The Elders will devote all their energies, their fangs, claws and the might of the Nation's arsenal to this task.

The Nation calls on the Human Empire to assist and purge itself of this corruption. It calls on all sentients who value their own freedom to stand with us and disavow this creature.

Foolish humans, you do not know what dark forces this thing will unleash. Today we must stand or tomorrow we will all share its fate.

*** WE ARE THE VOICE OF THE PACK ***

Shocking Revelations Part 3

DTR Press Release.

The Detinus Republic is gravely alarmed following the revelation that the Baron LiQuan has been subject to the meklanisation process.

For a major political figure to have been contaminated without detection leads us to question the entire security of the Peripheries, and the security of Whatsisface Lysander. The Detinus Republic is initiating emergency procedures to identify if any other Meklan imposters are walking amongst us.

The Detinus Republic calls for senior figures within the House LiQuan to surrender the Meklan Baron immediately, so that he can be deactivated, and for the House LiQuan to subject themselves to stringent widespread testing procedures to ensure the entire organisation has not become a Meklan hive. Failure to comply will result in the assumption that the HLQ have become a Meklan Hive Mind, thus necessitating Appropriate Measures.

The Detinus Republic is aware of the great threat to humanity, and all sentient lifeforms, that the Meklan represent.

Signed. Cassius Jerusalem, DTR Foreign Minister, on behalf of the Speaker and Senate.

From The Imperial News Wire

We have some shocking vid, if there are small children about, now is a good time to have them leave the room as we will be showing it uncensored across our viewing audience. Ready?

Quote:
Special Action/Masada/A Very Undiplomatic Departure/210.31
Following the lift-off of His Majesty Emperor Lysander, family and
entourage aboard the Confederate vessel, IMP Viceroy Ike Krieger orders
this vessel to leave the starbase House LiQuan (3498).
Following a salute and a smart about turn, Ike then proceeds to drop his
trousers, effectively insulting the massed Confederate dignitaries.
Though the Baron is not in residence at this time, his hot-headed son is
and takes great umbrage at this.
Snatching a gun from a shocked Praetorian Guard he opens fire as the ship
lifts off. The distance is large, the target small and Demetrius is shaking
in anger. This proves sufficient to put his aim off and only a few hairs
are singed before the airlock automatically cycles closed.

This has been a speechless Suzy Soo reporting from the Capellan Periphery Times.

FET Fashion

Peculiar orders have been going in for large quantities of womens clothing to be delivered to FET Headquarters throughout the Peripheries, as rumours circulate that the official dress for all FET officers will now be that of a harmless little old lady.

Pirates

A new class of pirate vessel has been spotted in the Persia system:

PIRATE SHIP LUCIFER'S REVENGE (95628) - {50 Normal Hulls}
Fallen Archangel Class Explorer {Light Ablative Armour}

Anybody with any details of who/what/where/why/when is invited to contact the newsroom.

BREAKING NEWS

Dewiek ground forces have attempted to storm the Baron LiQuans vessel before it could take off from MOH Pigsty.

185 Dewiek Veteran Marines, attacked the thirty or so defenders of the HLQ Ship Baron's Rest.

A brilliant flash of light, and deafening explosion hurls all combatants to the ground. As smoke and dust clear, it becomes apparent that something incredible has happened - the Kastorian System Weapon has been fired!

But not, it would seem, at the Meklan Baron, instead the fire seems to have been directed at the Dewiek party, for violating the Yank peace accords.

The intervention of the System Weapon has allowed the Barons ship to fire thrusters and make good his escape!

Hi,

I'm looking for one or two experienced or eager-to-learn players to help run the DEN going forward. Partly asking because I fear the post-holiday lack of enthusiasm will result in me dropping what is a really good scenario / set up before it gets truly underway and partly because there's a fair bit of fun to be shared going forward.

Why you might consider this:

- DEN have a fantastic and mysterious history, culture, technology (some stuff you won't see elsewhere)
- There are a number of story arcs at work and many big red buttons to press if you've never been given the opportunity
- If you want to experience the thrill of combat, then I can assure you the DEN will be at war with someone or another, sooner or later
- There are 14 currently active bases and a couple mothballed seed-bases. So plenty of choice in that department. Most have been done up recently but plenty of room to expand / refine.
- If exploration is your thing then there is more virgin territory than you can shake a stick at (ooh stick! throw it!) including some of most interesting features in space from ring worlds to the stomping grounds of the TCA.
- If you prefer a trader's life then the DEN could be just your thing as well. Rich worlds, rich Nation, lots of possibilities to trade uniques, technology or whatever.

What you should expect:

- Not a quiet life.
- Real power and responsibility within the affiliation and a good possibility of taking over when Adoqhina passes on.
- A well-organised, high communication PD with a decent understanding of game mechanics and politics.
- An interesting scenario that will call on Bismarckian levels of skill and luck to see through to the end.

If you're bored or willing to try something new, drop me a PM.

cheers,

Sid

War!

Perhaps unsurprisingly following the outcome of the duel, the Dewiek Elder Nation have declared war against the House LiQuan.

Meklan Scandal

The Meklanisation of the Baron LiQuan continues to cause shockwaves this week, with the Baron forced to make the following public statement where he confesses that he has indeed had himself converted into a Meklan, and that it wasn't a look-a-like that took part in the duel against Eldar Silvermane.

"Greeting all sentient beings. As you know the baron places his honour and that of his house above all things. He has not done anything in his life to which he is ashamed off. He has made mistakes yet takes steps to correct them. He is misunderstood by the band wagon jumping enemy, a man in his position generates.

On week 32 the baron took the following steps. Fearing an upcoming combat following acceptance of a challenge by a Dewiek has forced the baron to seek unusual precautions. He orders the research staff to augment his physical body through experimental use of meklan technology. They fear that any inducement of nanites and hardware in this field will eventually overtake the recipient, turning him into a meklan. He overrides them and submits to their tentative ministrations.

Finally he steps out of the chamber seemingly unchanged except for putting on a further 225kg and setting off every security alarm in the building The technicians say that they have incorporated a firewall to the brainstem which should stop the nanites from completing the meklanisation process. If nanites are detected in the brain, the firewall will shut down the brain automaticlly, effectively killing the baron.

This may seem like a drastic step but to duel hand to hand with a DEN Elder is certain death. Steps have to be taken to protect the house no matter what the cost. Now the baron has gained time to ensure his house is ready for the coming struggle. Plus the look on Silvermains face has I stove in his chest Priceless.

Here is the battle report from the Barons perspective:

Awesome breakfast, though it is quite ruined by the smell of wet dog and what with the howling all night. The baron greets the various apprehensive looking judges and has a stern word with his valet about packing the wrong shirt for a wrestling match. Nothing for it but to strip down to the waist like some back-street ruffian. Big bugger and no mistake - got to be well over two metres, thinks the baron to himself as he steps into the clearing - so what sort of taunt will be best to rile the beast?

Then the dewiek is on him and he would be dead if his body hadn't taken control without informing his mind. A slither of pain tells how close it was and the ugly brute is licking noble blood from its talons. A sudden change in the face of the Dewiek warns the baron that it is on to him, it knows his secret but then it is down and the baron is as surprised as everybody around him to discover that he has just smashed through its chest with a punch - staving in its vitals. Into the shocked silence, the Baron thanks everybody for attending, turns and leaves, donning his shirt from his stunned valet on his way back for second breakfast - damn but these Mohache are fine chefs. Maybe he will be allowed to keep the Silvermane's hide for a nice rug?"

When asked for a response, a spokesman from the DTR Foreign Ministry said, "The Baron has condemned himself, he says firewalls were put in place to protect his mind from the Meklan nanites? And then he says that during the fight, those same Meklan nanites took control, 'and he would be dead if his body hadn't taken control without informing his mind…' The Baron is a fool to think he can control Meklan technology, the technology is already taking him over without his awareness! the DTR simply cannot countenance a Meklan being in charge of a Noble House."

In related news we have learnt that a senior representative of the CIA is due to attend the Detinus Senate to make an emergency statement.

It is also understood that retired leader of the Detinus Republic, Michelle 'Thunderboots' Diaz, has returned from her holidays specifically when she learnt of the threat posed to the Peripheries by the Meklan, and that she has her ass-kicking shoes well and truly on.

Tea And Crumpets

Anonymous reports are coming into the news-desk that prices of tea and crumpets have soared in the galaxy as the DTR have raised their alert level from "Totally Asleep" to "Endless Committees." Rumours persist of a massive DEN buyout of tea and crumpet futures prior to the trial of LiQuan.

An anonymous Mohache told this reporter, "Ah you've seen right through us, yes, we're withholding the tea and crumpets in an inhuman experiment to see what the effect will be on Detinus government processes." Meanwhile, the Wimble Grandfather was not available for comment.

From The DEN Elder Council

The Elder Council did not meet on the fourth great tide. By tradition the long mourning period broken by a funeral hunt could not begin until the corpse of Silvermane was a pyre in the void and the Elders had taken the unusual step of allowing the human Githyanki time to examine the body. A fool's errand it was but the Elders had to give their allies every chance to act.

Adoqhina had taken a shuttle to the northern ice fields where she sat alone, far from the whispers of her children. She deactivated the cybernetics and was for a time just an old Dewiek. She could hear nothing but the cold wind and the soft patter of her guards keeping a respectful distance. Her memories were just her own, the visions ceased and she knelt down and wept.

The Elders of the Council mourned in their own ways. Most through the bravado of age, plied each other drinks and indulged in moon talk about the glorious war they would unleash. On occasion, their tempers would flare and tables, chairs and each other would be mistaken for the enemy. The short-lived brawls would peter out or be broken up by brave Dewiek who struggled to contain the rage. Eventually, they would pass out in a huddle where they were and when one let out a sad whelp, others would soon follow.

The packs who rode the great star machines or were stationed in the field of shuttles ready to be dropped on the enemy were not allowed to drink. For them the surreal sight of the Nation in mourning for an Elder was something they had not encountered before in their relatively young lives. The tension was intense, compounded by orders to dock rather than immediately attack the enemy. Those who were stationed on the great guardians of the Gifts or orbiting the worlds of the Nation, were even more confused and distressed. Every passing vessel that was not of the Nation was scanned in earnest. Humans were in the minds of the packs a growing threat: "If a Meklan sits next to the Imperial throne then how long before they are all Meklans?" they wondered.

The cubs had decided to continue their "game" and had turned their den into the "Foreign Ministry." Death was a mystery to them still and they could only understand it through the lens of scientific examination. Feeling the psychic trauma of an Elders death all around them, their young minds instead decided to play. A new practice had emerged in the den where each cub would roleplay one of the many voices they picked up on the subspace. The cubs were naive but skilled imitators. The cub playing the Baron had taken soft metal sheets around himself and mocked the cubs playing the Detinus with "Has if you would" or "Has you like it" whilst beating them over the head ineffectually.

Adoqhina rose from the ground and made her way to the shuttle. Her guardians stepped back in and asked her if she was ready to return. She sat silently for some time before responding.

"No, there is one more thing I need to do" she said emphatically. The shuttle revved its engines and lifted to the skies. The Wolf Mother would have to wait. A mother needed to see the body of her son before she would resume that burden.

Problems For The Mohache

Renegade Kanjis grudge against the Mohache has flared into armed conflict this week, as he has begun operations against MOH facilities in the Halo Periphery:

"Kourrda Gentle and Not-So-Gentle Beings,

Yesterday on the planet of Arinna in the Halo system of Hittite my brave forces stormed and captured the OP WMB Wimble Downs (50486).

One can question the sentience and intelligence of Wimbles (little better than animals in my own mind) but 80 or so of them were smart enough to leave as my startroopers landed. However 161 were foolish enough to stay.

These 161 are now my prisoners and I fully intend to flay the flesh from their bones unless one of the following 2 things happens.

1) The MOH pay me my $1,000,000

2) Some other faction pays me $100 per 'man'

I want payment by stardate 35.1.

The torture and death of these unfortunates can be laid directly at the door of the MOH and their greedy Nookta. I am merely the physical manifestation of that greed.

Good Day

Kanji."

Retirement

Duke Githyanki, the Imperial patrol commissioner has announced that with immediate effect he is retiring from office and the IMP Command Council, due to irreconcilable differences.

It is not known if the Duke is retiring from public life altogether, or if he is seeking alternative employment. Either way, we here at the SSS wish our biggest fan, all the best.

IDC Under Attack

A lone IDC Indiaman class freighter has been destroyed by two Independent ships belonging to the renegade Kanji, the Indiaman was classified as a passenger liner. It is as of yet unknown how many lifeforms might have been killed in the attack.

Possibly Not An Official Press Release From The Halo Tourist Board

Greetings Gentle and Not-So-Gentle Beings,

For those of you passing through the wormhole between Agripeta and Yank today there are some interesting sights.

Look left and you will see a debris cloud that was formerly MOH Ship Bacc Lon Juuxta. Formerly a 50LH barge, all passers-by are welcome, even encouraged, to help themselves to any items in the debris that tickle their fancy.

Look right and you will see the MOH Ship Bacc Lon Juule limping back to Tentative Steps for repair. All passers-by are welcome, even encouraged, to take a potshot at this ship and its cowardly captain.

I would like to publically praise the Captain of the Iron Mayfly (Kll'kllk) for showing outstanding courage and skill in taking down these vessels

This announcement was sponsored by the Agripetan Tourist Information Executive.

Crazed Speculation

Rumour has it an IND flagged vessel thought to belong to Krazy
Kastorian Kanji was seen negotiating a very expensive purchase of WoMD
launchers from the Dewiek Embassy in Yank for the princely sum of
$5000 each. Guess noone told KKK he could have easily built one by
converting any old missile launcher.

A Dewiek spokesperson said it was not the Nation's policy to discuss
business transactions with the press but added "If some fool wants to
buy our publicly listed stock of antimatter weapons at the kind of
prices we charge we are always happy to part them from their cash. We
do put little labels on them saying they're novelty items from a more
primitive age. You know... before ISR fields and all that gubbins. Now
where's my beer?"

Aquaphibs On The Rampage

Strange reports are reaching the news-room that bands of usually peaceful Aquaphib mercenaries have taken up arms to serve in IND battlegroups.

Renegade Kanji Brutalises SSS Editor (and his prisoners)

Our newsroom has received the following transmission. Viewers of a sensitive disposition may want to look away now, as this report contains shocking footage.

"Greeting Editor,

I have some footage that may be of interest to your publication and readers. I would very much like it if you would publish it so the peripheries can see what a cowardly dog Norozov is at heart.

If you do not publish then I will be displeased and will begin a feasibility study into your torture and death.

Have a nice day

Kanji.

Action:
Kanji orders his loyal veterans and hive to beat Zuvoro Norozov (40439) senseless. Once senseless Kanji intends beat him a little more then to poke out Norozov's right eye and cut off his left hand.

The eye in parody of his beloved Viceroy and the hand to symbolise the loss of the his Security Director, the 'Left Hand' of the FET CEO.

Pahl Kantner (32017) is simply given a good old fashioned beating. Nothing personal just for the hell of it.

The Officers are ordered to take Norozov and Kantner to orbit of Mobile Bay and deliver them to FET Free Coalition (604). They will then wait for further orders.

Result:
Special Action/FET Zuvoro Norozov/Last Encounter with Kanji/210.34
So ZN is looking to pull a Roy, fool me twice, shame on me...
"Let him swim through shit, then I will meet him!" orders Kanji.
He watches the security cameras as Zuvoro clambers through the waste systems of the ship for a while before making his way to the cargo bay, the destination of the glorious leader.
The bedraggled man clambers from the sludge, clear in Kanji's low-light visor.
Kanji flicks the lights on and Zuvoro is blinded, startled in place as Kanji claps, stepping forward into the spotlights.
"Ah, my old friend, up to the neck in it as always!" He steps from the shadows to loom over Norozov, "Beat him, but keep him conscious," he orders the very marines Zuvoro has blown a fortune on.
Kanji watches as the president's ribs crack and blood sprays from mouth and nose.
"I wonder if your master will be flattered by your new look?" Kanji questions aloud as he casually thrusts a welding torch into the eye of Zuvoro. "They say that about imitation, don't you know." A scream magnitudes louder than any before erupts from the man, "and the loss of your right hand man should have a physical reminder."
Zuvoro slips into unconsciousness.
"Take him to FET Free Coalition," commands Kanji, stooping to pick up the severed hand and toss it to a marine. "Clean this up and bring it to me."

Press Release

210.34.4 Public Press release from the offices of the Lost Planet Airmen Enterprises, an FET affiliate.

As of 210.34.2 the renegade Kanji has finally followed thru on his various promises to release his remaining FET hostages. However, this was not done without some further retribution, viciousness, and downright meanness on Kanji's part. Before releasing the 2 hostages, Zuvoro Norozov and Pahl Kantner, he indulged in further torture. After a severe beating, breaking ribs etc, Kanji "removed" ZN'left eye with a welding torch, saying that this made ZN a weak imitation of ZN' Imperial master. He then cut off ZN's left hand to signify ZN' loss of his good "left hand" man, as Kanji had always portrayed himself. Finally, Pahl Kantner was beaten black 7 blue, just for the sheer fun of it. The 2 hostages were then dropped off at safe, but undisclosed to the public, location. Further details of this ugly incident will not be released or discussed, due to various security concerns.

Fashion News

But have you heard the latest fashion in the Inner Confederacy is the Meklan Look?

In the last week several ' Society' people were seen wearing designer silver outfits with matching 'metallic' look faces. Is this movement mocking the baron LiQuan or supporting him?

Why are some of the designer suits are marked MOH?

Will this fashion catch on in the Darkfold ?

We await the upcoming public appearances of Emperor Lysander, to see if he or any of his entourage are also embracing Meklanisation By Fashion.

Solo claim swings back and forth

The situation in Solo appears to be getting even more heated. First the NHS dropped 600,000 troops to contest the system and then the DTR answered with enough troops of their own to trump the NHS claim. The NHS found yet more troops, taking the contesting claim up to 750,000 and once again the DTR answered, bringing Solo back under DTR control. Now the NHS have had a look down the back of the sofa and found yet more troops, taking the contesting claim to a massive 900,000 trained troops. We wait to see if the DTR have an answer to this. We can only guess where all these troops are coming from, but what is clear is that the established affiliations clearly have far larger armies than many thought.

NHS attempt to claim Solo away from DTR

In a shock move the NHS have contested the Solo claim with a huge garrison of 600,000 trained troops. In a move that nobody saw coming, especially as it was unknown the NHS had such a large force of troops to draw upon, the NHS seem to be provoking a response from the DTR. Currently there has been no word from the DTR in how they are going to deal with this claim jumping, although rumours are that they are pretending the Solo claim doesn't really matter to them and so action is unlikely. However this may be a smokescreen and we may yet see the DTR's powerful fleet cause havoc in the system of Solo, which has for a long time been an important junction and fought over by many different factions.

DNA Chairman TonTon resigns

The following communication has been leaked from the DNA to the GTT's PD.

Greetings CEO Fox.
It regrets me to have to inform to you that the DNA nation state will be renouncing its claim on Aladdin system following a ceremony planet side, shortly.
However, it gives me great pleasure to have to inform you that these ceremonies are being planned by Vladimir Tavikovitch, the South Road Traffic Coordinator. He is also responsible for all DNA and .ore. assets in the Outer Naplian (Capellan) periphery so if there are any further issues, please take it up with him.
For any and all other matters, please forward your request directly to the DNA directorate services at NexusID: DNA people.
The Foreign Ministry objects one last time to your illegal claim jump of Aladdin, but we realise it is time to de-escalate.
Normally i would sign off with Naambta, but doing so would be hypocritical. Let me say good riddance instead.
I hereby resign in protest!

Chairman TonTon,
Foreign Minister, DNA
cc: Directorate Services personnel coordinator - !urgent resignation!

DTR threaten WMB with fines for multiple breaches of DTR Law

Lady Sylvansight of the DTR has issued a fine of 1,000,000 stellars to the Wimbles for multiple breaches of DTR Penal and Territorial Law. This seems a very brave move of the DTR to risk upsetting the huge and warlike WMB when they also have the rival NHS Solo system claim to deal with. No word has been recieved yet that the Wimbles are going to pay, but if the formidable WMB warfleet is seen heading for the DTR home systems we will know what their thought are on the matter. The DTR and WMB fleets going head to head would be a sight to behold.

DNA and GTT clash over Aladdin system claim while Pirates look on.

The GTT have this week launched an attack on the DNA outpost in Aladdin, in what appears to be little more than a turkey shoot. Around 100,000 GTT Naplian Startroopers attacked the DNA position to remove the rival system claim. Reports indicate the DNA garrison were taken by surprise and lost control of the base in the first few hours of the fighting. The base has since been reflagged from [Free Naplian Capital] Peaceful Protest to [Loyal Naplian Capital] DNA claim Ended so it's fair to say there was a clear message being sent by the GTT. We have been waiting for the DNA leadership to comment but so far they have been unusually silent. No doubt when they have crawled out from under their desks they will have something to say on the matter.

While this attack was going on several pirate ships were also seen in Aladdin, according to the GTT in what may be true or may be a diversion, with reports of a pirate GP and scout being destroyed while a 150HH pirate warship slipped away and escaped from incoming anti-pirate patrols.

Secret meeting of the EEM

A recent communication intercepted by one of our top reporters today made us aware of a meeting of the EEM. This is underway in a top secret location called Black Pool, which sounds suspiciously like the lair of a pirate band. After pulling in many favours, we were able to identify some of the attending members. On the bases that they won't be named we were able to find out some slight information of the subjects to be discussed at the meeting and one thing is for certain, there could be huge impacts to the lives of everybody living in the galaxy. Details to follow. When the shadowy figures of the EEM come together with the top political players in a pirate base the possibilities are endless!

You are never more than 6 systems from a RAT ðŸ€

A new saying has arisen in the bars and spaceport of starbases throughout the many peripheries; you are never more than 6 systems from a RAT.

It is understood that this saying originated in Yank and spread by trade vessels to peripheries far and wide. Many starbases have heightened their security and added additional sensors and locks to various entry points including foul and grey water outfalls. Beer and drug stocks are undergoing increased proofing to avoid the critters gaining entry and consuming the stockpiles.

Will this present as a new plague of proportions never before seen or is this some simple urban myth being spread for the amusement of some mischievous entity? Who knows, but to be certain... check the shadows.

This year we will again be returning to the Briardene Hotel. They were welcoming, the bar didn't run out of beer pre-covid and there was room for quiet chats. Along with Wetherspoons there is the Victoria just down the road (Sam Smiths - last time beer was around 2 shillings per pint and a full round was less than £10).

Mostly drinking beer and talking toot though we have a good few things on the agenda.

Dog days are over

With the fall of the DEN and the implosion of their home territory as the AFT, DTR and GTT moved in, it was unlikely the Dewiek would rise again. The DWP gave the species a little hope with the Dewiek Pocket Periphery kept under lock and key. But news has reached us of the AFT's penetration of this private area of space that's been locked down. With a base and claim in one of the three visible systems it seems that the end of the Dewiek is near. A once noble and aggressive race, determined to make an impact on the galaxy is now little more than a species that lives under the command of others. A sad end to a once powerful species that used to control a significant part of known space.

Pirate activity continues

Yet more reports of pirate activity have been received, one from the WMB, losing a freighter in Solo and another from the FET who reported they had engaged and hit the attacking pirate ship with several weapons before it managed to make off with it's prize. Hopefully the pirate ship took significant damage and will now be out of action for some time. The Corewards periphery seems to have been plagued with pirates recently and many travellers would welcome a break from attacks.

MEK incursion into Corewards

The FET and GTT have mounted a joint venture into Nog-Kesri to tackle a MEK force. It isn't known where they have come from, with the only other MEK ships seen so far being located in the Orion Spur. The lack of a known link between where they have appeared in Corewards and the Orion Spur has caused some concern among planetary populations as who knows where they could turn up next! Fortunately the combined FET/GTT task force dealt the MEK a heavy blow and the threat has been eradicated. But we all know this is unlikely to be the last we hear of the MEK in Corwards and we would encourage ship captains to keep a keen eye on thier sensor screens when travelling near Nog-Kesri.

    Aladdin faces ongoing DNA/GTT tension

The tensions between the DNA and GTT in the Coptuv system recently spilled over into the DNA system of Aladdin. A significant party of GTT ground troops has reinforced one of their bases in the system and claimed it, forcing the system claim into turmoil as the DNA finds itself under threat of losing the system. With the DNA chairman asking for help, several affiliations have been seen sending ships to evacuate any in the local population that want to escape the GTT. But so far not a shot has been fired and despite the AFT, FEL and DTR assistance no reisistance to the claim jump has been encountered so far. It remains to be seen if the DNA and it's friends will scatter before this hostile take over or put in a last minute counter claim to thwart GTT intentions.

    Increasing pirate activity

Recent reports indicate a new surge in pirate attacks with the AFT and GTT reporting ships lost. Knowing how some don't like to advertise losses we wouldn't be surprised if this is the tip of the iceberg. Reports passed to us show the ship PIR Scavenger running ID 43174 and another ship of the same name running ID 68668 have both been in action with successful boarding attempts. It's unknown whether these are seperate ships or the same ship reregistered, but our information suggests that it would be hard for these pirates to cover the space where these attacks happened with just one ship. One thing is for sure, be on your guard as open space is not as safe as it once was.

GCE ships loitering in deep space

After the fall of the GCE and a lot of their assets being shared or purchased it was thought that the affiliation was no more. Yet deep space scans indicate that there is still a significant number of GCE warships holding station in deep space between Coptuv and Yank on the transport route into the Corwards Arm. Nobody knows what these ships are up to and why they are still flagged GCE, but our best guess is that are captains either awaiting new orders or owners after the fall of the GCE command structure.

    Tension in the Corewards Arm

With the DNA obtaining several ex-GCE bases in the Coreward Arm it has found itself in the middle of an asset grab of serious proportions and aggression. Our reporters witnessed several GTT troop carriers heading for the Corewards system as the DNA published information suggesting they were accidental owners of the system and that the assets were to be moved on. As the GTT ships started to arrive the bases were quickly passed to the CIA, thus thwarting the GTT intentions as they were hardly likely to start dropping troops on their allies bases. This shrew move by the DNA seems to have calmed matters in the Coreward arm temporarily, although the shift in relations between the GTT and DNA has taken a negative turn. When asked what their next move might be the GTT refused to comment.

    GCE collapse

The GCE are no more, save for some scattered light freighters. The affiliation which enjoyed a sharp rise and profiltable relations with many has ceased trading. Rumors point to the GTT buying up GCE assets before stripping the rival corporation of anything of value. Although our reporters at the SSS have been quick to point out that any GCE assets not in GTT systems have been taken over by both the DNA and FET. So it seems many different affiliations were able to profit from this development including a new group called the HSH who appear to have taken over the GCE war fleet. No doubt many in the peripheries will be watching with interest where these ships are used, who the HSH are and how they were able to get thier hands on so many warships so quickly.

    Secudus trials

In the Cluster Secudus has continued his trials, claiming to root out terrorists working against the Empire. With tends of thousands of beings being sent to the camps or worse. There is no sign of these actions stopping as the NHS clamp down on the locals and bring them under the harsh control of the Empire.

    Persistent Browser-Based Game (PBBG)

I’ve played on and off for approximately 10 years, over a 20 year spell. After some interesting debate on the in-game forum, I did wonder what, exactly, has kept drawing me back to the game, when for so many others I’ve generally lost interest after a few months.

Ultimately, I think it is a combination of automation (that allows the game to handle thousands of positions to interact on a daily basis) coupled with Special Actions (that allow the story arc to develop in a way that could not be catered for by a set of predefined list of available orders).
